Sound Financial Planning Quarterly Newsletter: Winter 2018Submitted by Sound Financial Planning, Inc on February 22nd, 2018
Most people are quick to make a long list of new habits and “to-do’s” and then by mid-year they feel deflated and lost because the treadmill has started collecting dust and they haven’t finished any of the projects on their list. You don’t have to get caught in the hype of the New Year’s Resolution to make positive changes.
There are simple things you can do to get your financial life off on the right foot for 2018.
Download an app for your finances - if you are not taking advantage of mobile banking, think about it. It is a very convenient way to keep track of your spending habits. Always keep in mind security and make sure you are using reliable and verified apps.
Don’t let tax time sneak up on you - now is the time to make sure you have closed out everything for 2017 and have your stuff in order to complete your taxes. Income tax forms have come in the mail. Make sure you have put them all in a safe place and you know where to find them!
Be a savvy shopper - while you may have thought that after Christmas all of your shopping days were done for awhile, February is still a time to get great discounts on some big ticket purchases. Mattresses, humidifiers, snow blowers, and even interior paint can usually be found for reduced prices this time of year.
In the office - we have finalized our Business Continuity Plan. An important part of that is making our cybersecurity a top priority. The company we are using as our secure cloud partner is External IT and they are leading edge experts in their industry and specialize in financial advisory firms. Everything is monitored 24/7 and they keep up to date with the latest in regulatory requirements. We also have excellent cybersecurity insurance coverage that assists if something were ever to become compromised. We have established an entire protocol to ensure that your sensitive information is kept as secure as possible.
