Sound Financial Planning Quarterly Newsletter: Fall 2018
Submitted by Sound Financial Planning, Inc on November 5th, 2018As we settle into the final quarter of the year there are important dates you need to remember.
RMDs
If you are over the age of 70 ½ and are required to take a minimum distribution from your IRA and have not done so, the distribution must be completed by December 31st. Unless we already know your distribution wishes we may be in contact to ensure we get this completed.
You can also donate up to $100,000 to charity directly from your IRA when you are over 70 ½ years old without counting the distribution as taxable income.
This distribution can be counted as part of your required minimum distribution as well. Please call us if you have any questions.
Any Roth conversions must be completed by December 31st.
Charitable Giving
Often times December is when people have a special focus on giving. There are a few dates to remember at the end of the year when considering financial gifts of any kind.
- If your year-end gift or transaction needs to be Bill and Tammy handled through our office please have your requests to us by December 1st to allow enough time to guarantee processing.
- If you will be making a donation for which you plan to claim a deduction, remember that your gift must be made by December 31st. Remember, too, that only contributions to IRS-qualified charities are deductible.
We wish you a happy, healthy, and joyous holiday season.
- Bill and Tammy
